Contract Manufacturer MidSouth replaces Legacy ERP with Compiere™

Past Challenges

Mid-sized contract manufacturer, Midsouth Technology, had outgrown its legacy ERP system. All daily transactions were first keyed into Excel files before they were re-keyed into the legacy system at the end of the month, taking away valuable time and reducing employee productivity. And the Management had extremely limited visibility across its supply chain, rendering decision-making a complex, tedious and subjective process.

Additionally, there were inherent limitations in the legacy system, most significant of which were

• Financial reports could not be generated till after period-closing
• Performance suffered as the number of users increased
• Non-intuitive user interface made it adoption difficult for new employees
• Reports could not be customised easily. Data had to be exported into excel and reformatted to suit management's reporting requirements
  

Solution

Deployment of Compiere across all its departments resulted in significant time and cost savings with the following features:

• Fully multi-user and real-time
• Management reports can be generated as transactions are processed, without having to wait until the period-end. They could also be easily customised by the users themselves, giving them full control over the way they wanted to analse data
• With Oracle as the backend database system performance remained unchanged with increase in data volume, number of users and frequency of transactions
